If you're downloading alot of stuff from redirects and servers (which after a fresh install you definitely will be doing!) you can run the cache cleaner and it will save all those maps and mods that u downloaded automatically and put them into the correct UT folders. Id recommend getting the UT Cache Cleaner. I've been using v451 (client) since it came out with no problems =) The patch you remember for the sound is a creative labs EAX enhancement for those who use those sound cards.
As far as visuals, you can install opengl compressed textures and S3fix then modify your ini. Use the 436 NoDelta patch and the bonus pack4 umod. Those patches are for server side only, not client. I dont advise using any of the UTPG 451 patches, The UTDC anticheats will kick you from most servers. What about the UTPG patches? And improved visuals?ĮDIT: I remember a patch for 3d sound too.
